In May 2022, representatives of the RCCG, the Continental Overseer of the Europe Mainland, Pastor Dele Olowu and Pastor (Mrs) Olowu were hosted as part of a mission to Israel. This was part of a 5-day mission that the Magen David Adom UK had planned for its top donors.

The RCCG is a Pentecostal megachurch and denomination founded in Lagos, Nigeria. Today the church is becoming one of the fastest growing Pentecostal churches in the world, with well over 15,000 parishes in over 100 countries and 12,000 parishes in Nigeria alone.

2009 marked the first ever ambulance donated to MDA by an African church. That church was the RCCG. The church generously donated another ambulance once again in 2011.

As an extension of their gratitude and a renewal of friendships, the Magen David Adom UK had a Mezuzah , a small folded parchment with scriptural verses reminding the people of God of their obligation to god, dedicated in the name of the Redeemed Christian Church of God on one of the doorposts inside the brand new Marcus Blood services center in Israel.

This was the first time that an African led Church had be honored on a grand scale like this for its support of Israel. A plaque reading

‘With enduring friendship to the RCCG’

is posted in the hall of the second floor of the National Blood services center, further signifying the historical moment.

Daniel Burger, Chief Executive of MDA UK, said: “We’re really thrilled to be able to help such an intrinsically important part of Israeli society. As well as generously funding a number of rooms and areas, MDA UK supporters contributed over 80 mezuzot, each of which has been affixed to a door frame within the Centre.

Through this renewed friendship between the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the Magen David Adom, we hope to see more of the Redeemed Christian church of God make use of the strong ties that it has built with MDA in the past and we look to the future for more opportunities to serve the RCCG In their display of love and dedication to Israel.

Tobi Lovv, our African coordinator for MDA noted ” the significance of this level of acknowledgement by an organization in Israel will serve as an model of the wonderful friendships that can be built between the people of Israel and Christian churches across Africa. I am so honored to be spearheading this outreach, it is about time that Africa and African leaders are recognized in their capabilities and most importantly desire to support Israel.
