Magen David Adom is Israel’s largest volunteer organisation and as anyone involved will testify, being part of MDA is like being part of one big family. The same is true here in the UK where our supporters do so much to raise funds up and down the country.

Throughout the year many local MDA committees organise and host various guest speakers, events, sporting activities and gatherings to support MDA in Israel.

In March, at a Manchester MDA Gala Dinner, the committee launched the Manchester Magen David Adom Bloodmobile project – a community crowdfunding initiative. The Manchester committee will be raising £280,000 for a three-bed bloodmobile. £60,000 of which was raised at their event that took place at Hale Shule and premiered our 2023 campaign video.

The MDA Maidenhead committee is raising funds to purchase a medicycle for MDA in Israel. Their committee launched a tennis prize draw sweepstake to mark the upcoming Wimbledon Tennis Championships taking place locally. Members of the Maidenhead community were invited to purchase tickets to participate, the proceeds of which will go towards the medicycle.

Both Southend MDA and Leeds MDA, through their respective Breakfast Clubs, hosted well known guest speaker Sally Becker – The Angel of Mostar and goodwill ambassador for Children of Peace. She shared her moving story of how she was able to help MDA UK evacuate 54 Ukrainian orphans in March 2022.

Ruth Jacobs, a volunteer from MDA Birmingham, organised a special briefing for
80 guests by Senior Paramedic Aryeh Myers. In Norwich, the MDA Norwich team arranged for guest speaker Jill Gower to talk to 60 MDA supporters.

The MDA Hull committee gathered to honour valued treasurer Conrad Segelman, who stood down after 50 years. And in Northern Ireland, 200 people came out to hear British Barrister and TV star, Rob Rinder, hosted by Gerald Steinberg of MDA Belfast.

The local MDA committees work tirelessly to raise funds towards purchasing life-saving equipment and vehicles to aid MDA in Israel, and they do this with great pride and passion. These are but a few of the fundraising events that the local MDA committees have organised so far this year, with many more planned for the
upcoming months.
