Magen David Adom has been leading the fight against Covid-19 from the start of the outbreak in Israel. With world-leading vaccination and testing programmes, working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, MDA has played a crucial role in dealing with the virus for all Israel’s citizens. MDA’s work has been praised by many within Israel, and other countries who have looked to Israel for guidance throughout the pandemic.

Naftali Bennett, Prime Minister of Israel, has stated:

“I have no doubt that MDA has played an important role in reducing the morbidity caused by the coronavirus and assisting those diagnosed with corona. This has and continues to play a critical role in our success against the pandemic.”

For nearly two years, entrance to Israel has been strictly limited to Israelis and a small number of first-degree relatives of Israeli nationals. Now, for the first time since March 2020, thanks in no small part to the relentless hard work of MDA teams across the country, tourists who are vaccinated against Covid-19 are finally welcome to visit Israel once again.

This is good news for all those hoping to visit friends and family in Israel and particularly for MDA UK partner Virgin Atlantic and its Israeli CEO, Shai Weiss. Shai is to be the keynote speaker at next month’s Patrons’ Dinner and will no doubt be hoping the borders and skies remain open, so enabling Virgin to continue to fly MDA supporters to Israel.
