Magen David Adom is well known as Israel’s only medical emergency and ambulance service and is also responsible for all Israel’s First Aid training. Now, for the first time, Magen David Adom UK is able to provide First Aid training on selected courses to the Jewish community – free of charge.
The benefits of learning first aid
There are many benefits to learning first aid. Gaining the skills and confidence to act in an emergency not only saves lives, it helps to create connected, resilient communities. By learning first aid, and encouraging others in your community to gain simple, lifesaving skills you will be joining the British Red Cross in our mission to create a world where everyone gets the help they need in a crisis.
AEDs
AEDs can be used to help someone who is unresponsive and not breathing. They give a shock to the persons heart as it is not working properly (this is known as a cardiac arrest). Using an AED with chest compressions gives an unresponsive person who is not breathing the best possible chance of survival. AEDs are found in many public places across the country, such as train stations, leisure centres and schools. Despite there being many different models of AED available, they are easy to use and you don’t require specialist training in order to use one – anyone can do it.
