Daily Summary 17th March 2026

Tonight (Wednesday, March 18) at 00:16, missiles were fired at the State of Israel and sirens were heard across the Gush Dan area. Within minutes, numerous reports were received at Magen David Adom’s 101 emergency dispatch centre about explosions, vehicles on fire, and missile fragment impacts. At one of the scenes, devastation was reported in an apartment on the fifth floor of a residential building in Ramat Gan.

Large numbers of MDA teams were dispatched to the scenes and conducted searches. Casualties were located at three scenes: at the central scene in Ramat Gan, MDA teams found a man and a woman in their 70s unconscious in an apartment, with critical injuries from a missile strike. They were not breathing and had no pulse, and their deaths were pronounced at the scene. At two additional scenes, MDA teams treated two people with minor shrapnel injuries, along with several anxiety victims and civilians injured on their way to shelters.

MDA paramedic Inbar Green and MDA EMT Naftali Halberstadt, who arrived at the scene in Ramat Gan, said: “When we arrived, we saw heavy smoke and destruction in a residential building. There was shattered glass and scattered items. During searches inside the apartment, two casualties were found unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, with severe injuries to their bodies. We performed medical assessments, but they showed no signs of life and we had to pronounce them dead. Together with additional MDA teams, we continued searching the scene and did not locate any additional physical casualties.

MDA Director General Eli Bin said: “This is a difficult, painful scene, with a direct hit on a residential building. MDA teams acted very quickly at multiple scenes simultaneously and provided medical treatment to the injured. Unfortunately, at the scene in Ramat Gan, paramedics had to pronounce the deaths of an elderly man and woman. We once again call on the public to follow the life-saving instructions of the Home Front Command.

Since the beginning of the Operation Magen David Adom teams have provided medical treatment to 263 casualties injured by missile fire, including:

  • 14 fatalities, including 13 pronounced dead at the scene and 1 who died of their injuries in hospital
  • 5 in serious condition

Press Release

Eilat: MDA forces hold a drill to practice response to hundreds of casualties in a scenario simulating missile strikes at several locations across the city.

As part of Magen David Adom’s preparedness for complex emergency scenarios in the State of Israel, a large-scale exercise was held today (Thursday) in the city of Eilat, simulating missile strikes at several crowded locations across the city with hundreds of simulated casualties. The exercise was conducted in cooperation with all security and emergency agencies, including the IDF, Israel Police, Fire and Rescue Services, the Ministry of Health, and hospitals. Its goal was to strengthen the preparedness of teams in the field and enhance coordination among all organisations during a real emergency.

During the exercise, dozens of MDA EMTs and paramedics operated using ambulances, mobile intensive care units (MICUs), emergency medicycles from MDA’s Motorcycle Unit equipped with life-saving medical equipment, as well as dedicated mass-casualty response vehicles. As part of the drill, the teams practiced locating casualties, conducting initial medical triage, providing life-saving treatment in the field, and rapidly evacuating patients to hospitals.

At the same time, MDA’s National Dispatch Center practiced real-time management and control of the incident – from receiving emergency calls, dispatching teams from central Israel, and coordinating among all emergency agencies – while continuing to provide full response to routine emergencies.

Head of MDA Operations Division, Ronen Bashari: “Exercises of this type allow us to test the teams’ rapid response capabilities in the field, refine procedures, and strengthen cooperation among all emergency and rescue agencies. Joint training enhances our ability to act quickly and professionally in real time in order to save lives.

MDA Director-General, Eli Bin: “Magen David Adom, the national emergency medical organization of the State of Israel, operates around the clock to ensure that in any emergency scenario we can provide fast and professional medical care to every citizen. Large-scale exercises such as the one taking place in Eilat enable us to strengthen the organization’s preparedness, improve cooperation with all emergency agencies, and ensure that when needed we will be able to provide the best possible response.

Moments later, a call came in about a strike on several buildings near me. I immediately headed to the site in my ambulance. It was a difficult sight. Heavy damage to structures, smoke in the air, and large chaos as dozens of panicked residents emerged from the affected buildings. Through the commotion, I noticed a 37-year-old woman approaching me, deeply distressed and suffering from significant limb injuries. I calmed her down and began initial medical treatment.
