The vital work of Magen David Adom in Israel is supported by a number of ‘friends’ groups around the world. For over 80 years, the Anglo-Jewish community has been raising funds and awareness in order that Magen David Adom continues to save more lives each day in Israel.

Our Mission Statement

Unlike the UK, Israel has never had a Government run medical emergency and ambulance service. Instead, donors from around the world have always supported Magen David Adom, ensuring that the State is able to dedicate its own resources towards critical issues such as defence and security.

Its lifesaving work in Israel – continuing 24 hours round the clock, 365 days per year – is therefore funded by a combination of voluntary donations from Friends of Magen David Adom in 17 countries around the world and payment from patients and hospitals.

Magen David Adom provides its services to all, regardless of race, creed or ethnic affiliation. Magen David Adom’s workforce is 90% volunteers working side by side for a common purpose – to save lives.

Magen David Adom UK plays a vital support role for Magen David Adom in Israel. Since its foundation in 1949, the British Friends have helped to fund a range of development projects including the building of new casualty stations, the supply of ambulances and specialist Mobile Intensive Care Units and supplying other vital medical supplies. In addition, Magen David Adom UK assists organisations in Israel and across the world in providing medical care and treatment for people irrespective of their nationality, race religion, ethnic origin, age, disability, sexual orientation or political affiliation.
