Title: Community Fundraiser

Hours:37.5 Per Week

Location: Hendon NW4

Accountable to: Head of Fundraising

Functional Links with: All MDA UK staff; volunteers and Board members; staff from the voluntary and private sector; individual donors; members of the public and MDA Israel

Main duties and responsibilities:

  1. To assist the Head of Fundraising with the preparation, organisation of fundraising appeals, campaigns, events and marketing activities in accordance with agreed objectives
  2. To ensure that the organisation’s donors receive appropriate donor care
  3. To develop positive relationships with MDA UK staff, Board members and other key leaders in the community as appropriate
  4. To co-ordinate and support specific local and national committees, campaigns and initiatives. To identify other developments to ensure efficient and effective communal awareness for MDA UK
  5. To work with synagogues and schools to develop fundraising initiatives
  6. To liaise with and assist Christian Friends of Magen David Adom (CFMDA), including assisting the CFMDA Fundraiser, Volunteer CFMDA Fundraiser and CFMDA Executive Committee as directed
  7. To develop and manage MDA’s Involvement in Sporting Challenges ie. Treks, Marathons and any other relevant events
  8. To develop and manage the Trekker Alumni
  9. To manage the Lifesavers and Young Leadership Programme


  • To recruit and manage volunteers to the Alumni Scheme in conjunction with Israel Experience
  • To represent and make presentations/speeches on behalf of organisation as appropriate
  • To report to the Head of Fundraising regularly on progress, highlighting any potential deviations from original plans
  • To meet agreed annual income generation targets
  • To conduct end of Project reviews to identify learning opportunities and to share best practice
  • To have the ability to work flexibly, including out of hours workingTo be prepared to undertake UK and overseas travel as required
  • To work as an integral member of the MDA UK Team, supporting and assisting other members of the team as necessary
  • To be willing to undertake training identified by self or management as appropriate

Knowledge in practice:

  1. To keep abreast of new developments, legislation and best practice affecting fundraising
  2. To ensure all fundraising activity is complainant with relevant legislation and conforms to relevant professional bodies and external regulators
  3. To keep up to date with the Data Protection Act, and ensure GDPR adherence at all times
  4. To comply with the charity’s policies
  5. To carry out other duties as required in line with your skills, experience, role and level of seniority
