Rockets hit Southern Israel
On Saturday 29th October, 2011 three Grad missiles fell in the cities of Gan Yavne and Ashdod. At 18:52 MDA Lachish Regional Dispatch Centre activated a Mass Casualty Incident protocol for a direct hit of a Grad missile in a high-rise residential building. The first ambulance arrived on scene at 18:58 (an arrival time of 6 minutes!). Magen David Adom responded to this attack with 9 standard ambulances, 2 Mobile Intensive Care Units, 1 four wheel drive command vehicle, 1 scooter and 1 Multi-casualty Rescue Vehicle.
Magen David Adom medical teams treated and evacuated from both events a total of 2 victims who suffered from light penetrating injuries, as well as 15 trauma victims. These victims were evacuated to the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot and to the Barzilei Medical Center in Ashkelon.
At 20:12 a rocket landed near a gas station in a populated neighborhood in Ashkelon. Magen David Adom medical teams of the Southern District treated 1 victim who suffered from moderate injuries and 1 victim with light injuries, both of which were evacuated to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.
As the threat continues, Magen David Adom teams are on high alert.
