JCoSS pupils choose Magen David Adom
Pupils at JCoSS, the first cross-community Jewish secondary school in the UK, recently held an “own clothes” day; the first of a number of fundraising initiatives aimed at raising money to purchase a First Aid Responder kit for Magen David Adom. The Israeli ambulance service received the highest amount of votes at a charity fair held to select the pupils’ chosen charity for this academic year. The pupils are able to see how close they are to reaching their target on a dedicated poster for this year’s appeal. Norman Feingold, Vice President of MDA, addressed the students at an assembly where each child received an MDA tzedaka box for their fundraising activities. JCoSS are in the process or arranging a schedule of events for the coming year to encourage the pupils to get involved in the challenge of achieving their target.
Victoria Rose, Informal Education & Social Action Co-ordinator at JCoSS said “The whole school is extremely excited about raising money for Magen David Adom. The lovely tzedakah boxes from MDA are fabulous and the pupils will take much pleasure in using them.”
