Ambassador endorses MDA UK Pesach Appeal
Britain’s Ambassador to Israel, Matthew Gould, gave his stamp of approval to Magen David Adom UK’s 2012 Pesach Appeal for Holocaust Survivors in Israel. Speaking at the organisation’s Patrons’ Reception the Ambassador stated that he was “delighted” that MDA UK’s Pesach appeal was focused on the Holocaust Survivors’ initiative, in line with his own appeal, launched last year.
The appeal is raising funds to ensure that Holocaust Survivors in Israel who live in poverty will not have to worry about the potential costs of ambulance call outs. For many, the fear that they may have to pay is enough to put them off calling – sometimes with catastrophic consequences.
Magen David Adom UK Deputy Chief Executive Daniel Burger commented, “The appeal for the Holocaust Survivors is very important to us. It may not be the traditional ‘ambulance’ appeal that MDA is associated with, but our humanitarian work goes far beyond that.”
Magen David Adom UK hopes to raise £90,000 this Pesach, to go towards the annual commitment of £150,000 for Holocaust Survivors.
